Everyone from employers to elected officials talks about the nursing crisis, but even after years of a pandemic, their solutions — from sign-on bonuses to pizza parties — are proof that they do not understand what is driving nurses away from the profession. New nurses are coming in and they are not staying. The only solutions that stand a chance of addressing the crisis will be designed BY nurses, not by healthcare executives.

That’s why Pittsburgh nurses are meeting: to tell the truth about the scope of the crisis and to develop our own solutions.

At the Pittsburgh Nurse Summit, we will sound the alarm for the public and ratify demands created by nurses across the city and a plan of action to challenge hospital corporations and the government to take immediate action to end the nursing crisis.
